Drums & Percussion
Percussions are instruments that are being struck or rubbed by hand, or against another to make a particular sound. The drum is a member of the percussion musical instruments. Drums are the world’s oldest musical instrument, and the shape has remained unchanged for centuries. Some have been found in China dating back to 5500-2350 BC.
The shape and type of the drum, and the tension and type of the drumhead determines the sound a drum produces. For example, jazz drummers sometimes prefer drums that are quiet, resonant and high pitched whereas rock drummers want theirs loud, dry and low-pitched.
