Keyboard

Keyboard

In historical musicology, "keyboard" means an instrument whose identity cannot be firmly established.

Around the 18th century, the early piano, harpsichord, clavichord, were in competition, and the same piece might be played on more than one. That is why the word “keyboard” is typically all-inclusive.

It is believed that the earliest known keyboard was a type of Ancient Greek pipe organ, invented in the third century BC.
